Liversage Court Care Home accommodate up to 40 people. At the time of our inspection there were 31 people living at the service. The home is located in an older building made up of two floors.
We found the following examples of good practice.
¿ Staff had received training in donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE), and we saw this was accessible throughout the home and staff used it in accordance with the most up to date guidance. Staff had received further training in Covid-19 and infection control to prevent the spread of infection.
¿ The registered manager had arranged for a log cabin to be built at the back of the home. This would serve as a room for visitors to ensure safe visits. The other room was for staff to change and shower when necessary to ensure that they only used work uniforms whilst at work, to minimise the risk of cross infection.
¿ With the building being older it was difficult to zone and cohort individual areas, however, social distancing was maintained by seating people apart and using tables between each chair in the lounge and having less people at a table in the dining room to minimise risk.
¿ The infection control policy was up to date. We reviewed audits which reflected actions had been taken to maintain the standards within the home. There was a COVID-19 Policy and procedure and also national guidance which was kept updated.
¿ There were no visitors allowed in the home apart from families of those who were at the end of their life. Only essential medical professionals had entered the home during the outbreak. At the time of our inspection people living at the home were coming to the end of their isolation period and there were no new cases of the virus.
¿ The home was clean and they employed three cleaners each day. When the cleaners left, care staff continued to clean frequent touch points.
¿ There was a robust COVID-19 Policy, COVID-19 Infection control policy and contingency plan.
