Our view of the service
Beauchamp Court is a care home providing care to adults with physical and health related support needs, some of whom live with dementia. Date of assessment: 25 July and 9 August 2024. An unannounced site visit to the home was carried out on 25 July 2024. We reviewed all quality statements within safe, responsive and well-led. The service was rated good. We found concerns in relation to management of medicines in the home. However, the registered manager sent immediate assurances of action taken to address all concerns found on the first day of our assessment. We have received ongoing updates of improvement in the home. Staff provided safe care which was person-centred and supported people’s quality of life, choice and independence. This brought good outcomes to people, both in relation to people’s health and general wellbeing. Staff had identified when people needed to be referred to health professionals and this had been sought in a timely way. The management team, especially the registered manager of the service, had made improvements since the last inspection in relation to care planning and introducing a new system to ensure all details of people living in the home were up to date. Equality and diversity were promoted in the service. The provider mostly had policies, procedures and governance systems which were effectively used in the service to drive continuous improvement. With the only exception of medicine audits not highlighting our concerns, however, additional governance systems were put in place to directly address medicines following our first day of inspection.
