Updated 23 September 2024
We carried out an assessment of this service to follow up on some concerns we had received. We looked at 16 quality statements under the key questions of safe, responsive and well led. The assessment included site visits on the 18 and 23 September 2024.
The service did not always have safe systems for appropriate and safe handling of medicines. At the time of assessment, the service had only recently implemented a new electronic medicines system which was not always effective in assisting with the safe administration of medicines. Work was required to ensure areas of risk in relation to the environment and care planning were acted on. People did not always receive prompt care due to the staffing levels at the service. Governance systems in place did not always identify or address the issues found at this inspection.
Records were in place to show people’s capacity had been assessed and best interest decisions made when required. Staff told us the registered manager was approachable and supportive. Systems were in place to ensure people were engaged in the community and activities were organised.
We identified breaches of regulation in relation to staffing, medicines and governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
