Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
Staff were caring and compassionate. One person told us, “The staff are very nice, very nice.” Independence, choice and control was reflected in people’s personalised assessments and care plans. Staff also gave examples of how they promoted this in people’s care, for example, by supporting people with mobility aids to help them be more independent in the community. We observed staff encourage and involve people in meal preparation. A staff member told us that something that worked well at the home was, “Staff working together, giving people we support choices and supporting them how they want to be and to be independent where possible”.
