The provider made sure people’s care and treatment was effective by assessing and reviewing their health, care, wellbeing and communication needs with them. A staff member told us they kept up to date with people’s needs by, “Reading and updating care plans to the needs/wishes of all people we support and reviewing support plans regularly.”

The provider ensured people were supported in the least restrictive way. The provider had acted on a recommendation from the last inspection about reviewing restrictive practices. Where restrictions were necessary to keep people safe, good practice was followed and other options had been considered. Staff understood the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and associated codes of practice. They appropriately completed capacity assessments and ‘best interests’ decisions. The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment. People were involved as much as possible in any decisions made. A staff member told us, “People we support are informed of any decisions and support with all information needed to make any decisions” and “We give them as much information as possible with regards to the decision. We explain the benefits and risks.”
