The service was exceptional at promoting people’s independence and exceptional in how they listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. The service always cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff. The service had exceptionally inclusive leaders at all levels who understood the context in which they delivered care, treatment and support. The service had a strong focus on continuous learning, innovation and improvement. Staff understood and managed risks to keep people safe. They put people at the heart of everything they did. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes. People were involved in assessments of their needs and were involved in decisions about their care. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent and if they did not have capacity, involved those who were important to the person when decisions needed to be made in their best interest. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the home took it seriously and acted on it. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff were proud to work at Parley Place and said, “I feel very proud to work here. The team and the residents are fantastic, several of the residents say I am a 'friend’, and that sort of comment makes me smile about my job.”
