Equity in experiences and outcomes
Policies were in place that supported people to feel comfortable living in the service, such as the admission policy which reflected on how people cope with transitioning between living at home and moving into a care facility. This described how people’s needs were at the centre of the preadmission assessment to ensure they could be met. Staff received training in equality and diversity. The provider had an equality and human rights policy in place to guide staff on how to ensure people were treated with respect and dignity.
Staff who provided feedback told us they felt people were supported to continue with hobbies, religions and beliefs. Staff were knowledgeable about people’s needs.
People and their relatives or friends told us they had a positive experience of living at Hulcott Nursing Home. Comments included, “Fantastic, this place is just outstanding, and we have found no faults at all, the staff are all very friendly and loving and understanding in their care, they all go above and beyond”, “I come to visit virtually every day and I come at different times of the day and evening and at weekends too, I am always made welcome by the ladies on reception”, “Everyone is so helpful here, they always phone us if dad has a problem, on the medication side they phone us up if the doctor is coming to visit and always ask us if there is anything else we want to know.”
