Governance, management and sustainability
Leaders said they completed their own audits and had oversight of audits completed by other staff. The provider said they addressed actions identified in audits. For example, the arrangement of repairs when they were told something is broken.
Audits took place relating to people’s care planning and safety in the home however, we found the audits completed by the provider had not identified the risks in the environment of the service as identified by the CQC team during the onsite assessment visit. For example, in relation to the unsafe storage of oxygen cylinders and the unsecured sluice room. We found audits of risk assessments had not been effective in identifying shortfalls we found, for example in pressure care management. We found the provider did not have a process in place to record feedback or monitor progress on actions following audits from external stakeholders. For example, following a recent fire safety inspection and a food safety inspection.
