Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on Tuesday 6 August 2024. We found the practice had met regulations The practice had systems to manage risks and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The dental clinic appeared clean and infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. Recruitment procedures broadly reflected current legislation. The practice took immediate action and were responsive to concerns we found during our assessment. Arrow Dental Practice is in the London Borough of Camden and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, and the receptionist, who was also a qualified dental nurse.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 44 patients. On the day of our assessment, we gathered patient feedback from a further 5 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “Very professional all ranging services from the reception to the medical staff” and “The practice is amazing! All the staff are very helpful.” One patient told us, “The dentist is exceptional.” They felt that staff’s attention to detail and dedication had ensured that their dental health was at its best. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. One patient told us that the practice is “very clean and hygienic and is very well maintained. It always looks and feels as if it is new every single time I come here.” Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. They were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs and were involved in decisions about their care. One patient told us, “My options are always clearly explained to me, with my dentist being honest and transparent at all times.” Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources. When they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given. Staff at the practice were “caring professionals, who are truly valued in the community.” Many patients who gave us feedback had been patients at the practice for many years. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
